Today we want to pray for a few specific things directly requested from “R” and “H.” These requests pertain to their current work in the Greater Toronto area. While you pray for these things, we also want you to remember the harsh reality of persecution that awaits them upon their return to Central Asia later this year. (Read more about their journey)
Consider the faith and obedience of our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. Consider the call on “R” and “H’s” life and their willingness to say “yes,” knowing the road ahead would be filled with suffering and oppression. Think about the deep love they must have for the people they minister amongst—a love that would “risk it all” for the sake of the Gospel. Be encouraged and challenged by the persecuted church, knowing that the Gospel is advancing in these places. Finally, pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters, that they would take great joy in knowing Christ more through sharing in His sufferings!
“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.” Philippians 3:7-10
Points of Prayer
- Pray for more volunteers in the GTA who are willing to help with English conversation times for refugees.
- Pray that God would provide space in the GTA for a “Friendship Center.” This centre would provide services for refugees who are trying to adapt to life in Canada.
- Pray for continued wisdom as “R” and “H” seek to minister to refugees and immigrants.
