Saying Goodbye to Marilyn Blackaby

Richard Blackaby wrote on Facebook, on Thursday, November 29th "At 1:30 a.m. today, heaven gained a new choir member. Our beloved mother, age 83, Marilyn Blackaby, joined the heavenly choir. Over the last two months, she bravely battled liver cancer and finally succumbed in her home with her husband Henry and her family. The funeral will be at First Baptist Jonesboro in Jonesboro, GA on Sunday afternoon, October 9. Over the last few days, we as her family have wept at our impending loss but also laughed much as we recalled so many amazing, cherished memories of our dear mother. She raised five children, all of whom, love and serve her Lord. She adored her 14 grandchildren, and everyone loved her dearly in return. Pray for our dad, Henry, as today is the first day in over 62 years he will face without his devoted wife at his side.

Gerry Taillon: I first met Marilyn and Henri Blackaby at Faith Baptist Church in Saskatoon on March 21, 1973. I had begun to attend Faith Baptist after accepting the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior. They became my spiritual parents and helped a mixed-up young adult forge his way in his new found faith.

Henry was the preacher, theologian, and shepherd of this flock which consisted of mostly university students and young adults under 30. Marilyn was the life coach who gave practical down to earth guidance to so many young people making critical life decisions.

Both Connie and I have benefited greatly from this wise Christian woman. Today Marilyn went to be with our Lord and we will miss her very much. Our world has been greatly impacted by a couple who let God lead them to lay down their lives for the Kingdom of God.

I cannot imagine who or where I would be without the encouragement, support and guidance of Henry and Marilyn Blackaby. Thank you Lord.
